Upcoming major international competitions: German Sambo Open and Ivan Doctorov Tournament

Very soon, Europe will host two sambo events that have already become traditional draws for athletes from around the world. Both tournaments are open to everyone and attract increasingly diverse participants each year.

German Sambo Open. The German Sambo Open will be held in Karlsruhe, Germany, from June 26 to 28, 2026. The tournament has long earned a reputation as a well-organized, uncompromising, and very welcoming competition. Sambists of various weight categories and ages will have the opportunity to compete for medals, gain international experience, and test their skills against opponents from leading sambo schools.

Ivan Doctorov Tournament. From July 11 to 13, 2026, the capital of Bulgaria, Sofia, will take up the baton. The Ivan Doctorov Tournament is a tournament with a rich history and special respect in the community. It annually brings together young sambists from dozens of countries, offering spectacular fights and a true celebration of martial arts. The level of competition is consistently high, and the competitive atmosphere inspires new achievements.

Both tournaments have been held for several years now and consistently attract increasing attention from sambists across Europe. Anyone who is ready to take to the mat and demonstrate their technique, will, and character is welcome to participate.
