On May 15, Tbilisi hosted the Congress of the European Sambo Federation, which brought together representatives of national federations, officials, and delegates from the European sambo community.

The meeting took place in the conference room of the Holiday Inn Tbilisi on the eve of the European Sambo Championships.
As part of the Congress agenda, participants reviewed the report of the Executive Committee of the European Sambo Federation on the organization’s work for 2025. Particular attention was paid to the development of international cooperation, the organization of official tournaments, work with national federations, and the growth of European sambo’s media presence.

The delegates also discussed and approved the European Sambo Federation’s calendar of international competitions for 2026–2027, including key continental events.

One of the items on the agenda was the consideration of the exclusion of the Slovenian Sambo Federation from the European Sambo Federation. In addition, the Congress participants discussed amendments to the Regulations governing the organization and conduct of official ESF competitions.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the parties exchanged proposals on the further development of sambo in Europe and identified the Federation’s priority areas of focus for the coming period.
