The Armenian Youth and Junior SAMBO Championship took place on March 15 in the country’s capital, Yerevan. Young athletes took to the mat not only to compete for medals, but also to stake their claim for selection to international competitions.
The tournament was held in Sport and Combat SAMBO. According to the national federation, every bout was fought to the final second, with competitors showcasing strength, technical skill, and an unyielding will to win.
“The hard work and dedication of these young athletes are already shaping tomorrow’s victories,” the SAMBO Federation of Armenia said in a statement.
Those who performed best at the national level are now preparing to demonstrate their abilities on the international stage.
“The tournament made one thing clear: Armenian SAMBO is moving forward with confidence, and the new generation of athletes is ready to build on and surpass the achievements of those who came before them. What we witnessed on the mat was a powerful confirmation that Armenian SAMBO has both a strong present and a bright future,” the national federation added.
