The major Italian Championship concluded in Riccione

March 11

RICCIONE, Italy — Last Sunday, March 8, International Women’s Day, the famous resort on the Adriatic Riviera became the epicenter of Italian martial arts. The hospitable city of Riccione hosted the Italian National Sambo Championships in all age categories: from cadets and youth to adult masters.

The event, organized by the Federkombat Federation, was a true multi-sport celebration. National championships in three disciplines — sambo, kickboxing, and Muay Thai — were held simultaneously under the roof of the Riccione Play Hall sports complex. The combination of the three sports attracted a huge audience. Interest in the main event of the year was confirmed not only by the packed stands at the hall but also by the high online reach — fans followed the fights live on the federation’s official YouTube channel.

The Sambo tournament attracted particular attention. This year, many new sambists participated, especially in the cadet and youth categories. The intense and spectacular bouts of young sambists demonstrated a significant increase in technical skill and competition within the country.

“We saw not only a large number of participants, but also a high quality of wrestling. The growing number of participants in the younger age groups is the key to our team’s successful future on the international stage,” noted the organizing committee.

The sports festival in Riccione once again confirmed that sambo is developing dynamically in Italy, uniting generations and discovering new talents.
