The Russian Sambo Championship among juniors (M), juniors (W) and juniors in combat sambo (18-20 years old), organized by the All-Russian Sambo Federation, a national federation within the structure of the European Sambo Federation, has ended in Kazan.
The competition has become a key stage in the formation of the youth team for the international season. 632 athletes from 65 regions of the Russian Federation took part in the tournament, which is higher than last year (578 participants from 63 regions).
Following the results of the championship, national teams have been formed for the international starts in 2026. In accordance with the sports selection principle:
— the winners of the weight categories will compete at the World Youth Championships;
— The silver medalists will represent the country at the European Youth Championships.
For the first time, a junior team in the combat sambo discipline will be formed to participate in the European Youth Championship, which expands the program of continental competitions and strengthens the presence of this age category on the European stage.
