From February 7-8, 2026, the Greek Sambo Championship for youth, cadets, and younger athletes was held in Amyntaio, Hellenic Republic.
The competition attracted a significant number of participants: 253 athletes from across the country took to the mats. The event confirmed the growing popularity of Sambo in Greece and the high level of training of youth schools.

The championships were a decisive step in the development of the discipline: for the first time in history, combat Sambo matches were held as part of a national youth tournament. The young athletes demonstrated not only excellent wrestling technique but also the power of their striking techniques. The introduction of a combat division into the youth program opens up new opportunities for the Hellenic Federation to further develop and popularize Sambo in the country.
The tournament in Amynteo served as a qualifying tournament. Each bout was imbued with the spirit of uncompromising competition, as the right to join the country was at stake.
The winners and medalists of the competition received the honorary title of the Hellenic Republic for participation in upcoming international tournaments, congresses, and world championships in 2026. The coaching staff noted the high technical potential of the winners, expressing confidence that the young sambo wrestlers are capable of competing with the strongest schools in Europe and the world.
Congratulations to all participants, coaches, and organizers on the successful tournament and the desired young champion with a resounding victory on the international stage!
