SAMBO Athlete Arman Avanesyan Secures 6th Place in The World Games Athlete of the Year 2025

The International World Games Association (IWGA) has announced the official results of The World Games Athlete of the Year 2025, as determined by thousands of passionate fans from around the globe.

SAMBO athlete Arman Avanesyan (Armenia) finished in sixth place with 15,439 votes, demonstrating the strong support of the international SAMBO community throughout the competition.

The competition’s medal winners were:

1. Gold — Victoria Chavez (MEX), Flag Football

2. Silver — Marius Andrei Balan and Khrystyna Moshenska (GER), DanceSport

3. Bronze — Laura Burgos (MEX), Muaythai

Voting for The World Games Athlete of the Year 2025 began on 12 January and concluded on 2 February 2026. The process included an intermediate qualifying round on 26 January, after which only the top 10 candidates advanced to the final stage. Following the qualifying round, where Arman placed ninth, all vote tallies were reset to zero, and the competition resumed with renewed intensity. Ultimately, Arman secured sixth place in the final standings.
