As part of the World Championships, an award ceremony is held to honor the best referee of the year. In 2025, in Bishkek, by decision of the Sports and Technical Commission and the leadership of the International Sambo Federation, the representative of the European Federation, Secretary General of the Cyprus Sambo Federation Christinos Stavrides, was awarded this honorary award!
The title of “Best Referee of the Year” was awarded to a secretary for the first time. Sergey Tabakov, head of the FIAS Sports and Technical Commission, noted that the work of secretaries always remains “behind the scenes,” but at the same time it is extremely important for ensuring the smooth running of competitions.
