Rarity in the Sambo Museum

The Sambo Museum, which is based in Moscow at the International Sambo Center, received a real relic — the poster of the first European Sambo Championship in history.


The first European Sambo Championship was held in Riga (Latvian SSR) on November 24-26, 1972. Representatives of 8 countries took part in the competition. The Championship was open, so representatives of Asian countries: Iran, Mongolia and Japan could take part in it. In addition to these countries, the teams of the USSR, Bulgaria, Yugoslavia, Spain and Great Britain also participated.
