The city of Yekaterinburg is hosting the International University Sports Festival with the participation of student teams from BRICS member states, Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) member states and Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) member states. This is a large-scale celebration of youth and sports, combining modern innovative approaches and vast experience of holding major international sports events in Russia.
The sambo competition was held in three days on three mats on August 26, 27 and 28. Sambo students from Serbia, Azerbaijan, Armenia and Russia fought from European countries. In total there were representatives of 10 countries. European sambo wrestlers distinguished themselves with a scattering of medals.
In the team unofficial standings the places were distributed as follows:
1st place Russia
2nd place Mongolia
3rd place Armenia
