The International University Sports Festival with the participation of student teams from BRICS member states, Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) member states and Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) member states is a large-scale celebration of youth and sports, combining modern innovative approaches and vast experience of holding major international sports events in Russia.
The Festival is a complex international sporting event, which is held among the national teams of educational organizations in order to develop and popularize student sports, improve the level of physical fitness and sportsmanship of students.
Ekaterinburg EXPO Congress Center hosted the Opening Ceremony of the International University Sports Festival. The guests were the participants of the Festival, staff of sports delegations, students of universities and sports schools of the city and honorable persons.
The International University Sports Festival takes place in Ekaterinburg from August 19 to 31. Students from 36 countries are competing for 197 sets of medals in 14 sports.
Sambo competitions will be held on three days: August 26, 27 and 28.
