World Championship begins in Armenia

The capital of Armenia, Yerevan, will host the World Youth Sambo Championship from October 14 to 16. Athletes from 24 countries are expected to compete at the Karen Demirchyan Sports and Concert Complex: Armenia, Bulgaria, Germany, Georgia, Greece, Israel, Iceland, Italy, Kazakhstan, Cyprus, Kyrgyzstan, Colombia, Korea, Latvia, Moldova, Mongolia, Romania, Serbia, USA, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan. In accordance with the decision of FIAS Executive Committee, athletes from Russia, Belarus and France will compete under the banner of the International Sambo Federation.

The World Championship will be held among cadets (born in 2006-2008), juniors (born in 2004-2006) and female juniors (born in 2002-2004). In sambo tournament cadets will compete for the title of the strongest sambo wrestlers in nine weight categories, boys and girls — in eight, juniors and female juniors — in seven. Juniors will compete in combat sambo for the first time.

Cadets (girls): 41 kg, 44 kg, 47 kg, 50 kg, 54 kg, 59 kg, 65 kg, 72 kg, +72 kg

Cadets (boys): 46 kg, 49 kg, 53 kg, 58 kg, 64 kg, 71 kg, 79 kg, 88 kg, +88 kg

Girls: 47 kg, 50 kg, 54 kg, 59 kg, 65 kg, 72 kg, 80 kg, +80 kg

Boys: 53 kg, 58 kg, 64 kg, 71 kg, 79 kg, 88 kg, 98 kg, +98 kg

Juniors (W): 50 kg, 54 kg, 59 kg, 65 kg, 72 kg, 80 kg, +80 kg

Juniors (M): 58 kg, 64 kg, 71 kg, 79 kg, 88 kg, 98 kg, +98 kg

Juniors (combat sambo): 58 kg, 64 kg, 71 kg, 79 kg, 88 kg, 98 kg, + 98 kg
