First steps towards the inclusion of SAMBO Ireland in the Olympic Federation of Ireland

On November 5, 2021, was held an on-line meeting of SAMBO Ireland and the Olympic Federation of Ireland on the issue of registration and inclusion of SAMBO in the Olympic Federation of Ireland.

On the meeting also was discussed the goals and development plan of SAMBO in Ireland.

The meeting was attended by the Chief Executive Officer of Olympic Federation of Ireland Peter Sherrard, the President of the Irish Martial Arts Commission Brendan Dowling, the President of SAMBO Ireland Valery Vaniukevich and the Secretary of SAMBO Ireland Sergei Varonik.

The Chief Executive Officer of Olympic Federation of Ireland Peter Sherrard said that the issue of registration of SAMBO will be considered at the next meeting of the Executive Committee, which will be held on December 3, 2021. The final decision can be made at an extended meeting of the Olympic Federation of Ireland by the middle of 2022.

President of the Irish Martial Arts Commission Brendan Dowling commented on the outcome of the meeting and the work of SAMBO Ireland saying: “Well done guys. So Peter is saying that this may be completed by the middle of 2022 — much quicker than I expected”.
