    The Solemn open ceremony of the IV Russian Federation President’s Cup on Sambo took place in the palace of Sports «DINAMO» in Krilatskoe, Moscow, on July 30, 2010.

    The Plenipotentiary representative of the President of the Russian Federation in Central Federal district Georgiy Poltavchenko, president of the All Russian Sambo Federation Sergey Eliseev and president of the Federation Internationale Amateur  de Sambo Vasily Shestakov took part in this ceremony.

    «The Russian Federation President’s Cup is a very important event which reveals to the whole world the notion of sambo, it is also the next stage to be joined into the programme of the Olympic Games» said Sergey Eliseev. «We all realize that only the consolidation of the governmental efforts and forces of the public organizations could produce the results at present time. Today we can see that all structures tries to pay attention to sambo. We see sambo not only as a type of sports, but also as an educational system for young people, defenders of the native land. This is a type of sports which is necessary for our country».

    «Only one week ago the Prime Minister Vladimir Putin said that Sambo had to become the Olympic type of Sports added in his speech to the participants and guests of the competition Vasily Shestakov.  We are to apply in this direction all possible efforts.»

    All the strongest national teams of the world came here to attend in this competition: Russia, Belarus, Bulgaria, South Korea, Kazakhstan and Ukraine. The Russian Sambo national team won the President’s Cup for the 4th time in succession. In cup final our athletes beat the national team of Belarus conceding only in two weight categories.

    Single combats were won by Sergey Yalishev (57 kg), Vitaly Uin (62 kg), Nikita Kletskov (68 kg), Rais Rahmatulin (82 kg), Eduard Kurginyan (90 kg), Evgeniy Isaev (+100 kg), Vitaliy Minakov (+100 kg).

    The national team from Kazahstan took the third place in the team event, beating the Ukrainian national team.
